The second annual Bushwick Art Book & Zine Fair (BABZ Fair) took place during the weekend of June 20 – 22, 2014.
BLONDE ART BOOKS invited artists, writers, independent publishers, and designers to present recent work in the form of artist and poetry books, periodicals, zines, and limited edition prints. Images and details from the inaugural fair – BABZ FAIR 2013
This year the fair was hosted by SIGNAL. The entire ground floor of the gallery as well as the backyard are open to the public for the duration of the fair. Book launches, readings, and other diverse programming took place throughout the weekend.

| 3:00PM | Matthew C. Lange will issue a public declaration concerning the need to abolish cultural production related to The Plummet Machine. This address will demonstrate current problems in research pertaining to the ubiquitous role of The Plummet Machine in organizing social relations, thereby illustrating the urgent need for a total upheaval of current practices. Lange will recite selected texts from The Plummet Machine Library, In conjunction with excerpts from a newly released broadside, for the sake of articulating present concerns toward the subject. |
| 4:00PM | Wendy’s Subway will host a special reading by Wendy’s members – Sarah Gerard, Gabe Kruis, Matt Longabucco, and Joni Murphy – alongside a selection of books by members, and a limited edition publication produced for the fair. |

Nikholis Planck will present A few years from now. . . The post-apocalyptic highway involves painting, handouts, 12″s, and collaborative texts.

SUNDAY JUNE 22
| 2:00PM | Packet will host a “site reading” where readers recite their on work, as well as a “sight reading” of random literature chosen for the reading. Taking a cue from street photo and musical jamming, poets will interpret these random works into poetry, adding their own line breaks and cues to highlight the poetry that is found in everyday language. |
| 3:00PM | “Since we have learned to embrace plants, why not learn to feel as a plant feels? This Chant will take you on a psychedelic trip through your favorite plant, and yourself” (from the 1976 LP “A Chant For Your Plants” by Ann Chase). Miniature Garden presents PLANTS poster release and listening party with music to make your plants grow. |
| 4:00PM | Simple Bookbinding for Artists – Small Editions will present a series of simple bookbinding and layout techniques for producing basic artist book editions. Students will learn how to do a single and double signature pamphlet stitch, a one page book, and learn layout techniques for printing books at home. |

Heather Guertin will be reading an excerpt from her novella Model Turned Comedian and an unpublished novel she is currently working on, ‘Not Yet Titled, Cambodia’.
